Well hello there!
It feels like I haven’t written a blog post in a long time. Sometimes it’s important to have a break though, you know?
We returned home today after a wonderful week away with my family. For the last two years, my parents have rented out this great farmhouse in Dorset where we all meet for a week of just being together, catching up and relaxing.
This place is such a dream property though! Already being familiar with it, I felt my shoulders relaxing as we drew up towards the great entrance last Friday. It’s such a unique place to come to, to really unwind and rest. Also, because it's so big physically, as a party of 14, there was loads of space for everyone and we never felt like we were treading on each other’s toes!
The children loved exploring the house and grounds each day and just seeing how much fun they got out of our time there made it all the more enjoyable for us. It was just nice for all of us to be able to stop the cogs turning from our usual everyday routines and just be present with one another.
One of my favourite parts about this house had to be the gardens. I mean, they were seriously impressive! The back garden was typically English and showered with the most beautiful colours of the season’s flowers. Needless to say, we spent a lot of time out there soaking it up and playing countless games of badminton!
The front grounds were simply breathtaking too. I especially loved the old shepherds hut- what a find! I couldn’t help but dream of doing up the interior into a perfect garden retreat as it came complete with its own log burner! Bliss!
Even though I knew I was arriving home to a few days of playing catch up with the unpacking, laundry and sorting out the holiday stuff, I’m trying to keep the ‘holiday blues’ at bay because I know we are so fortunate to be able to take time off and enjoy having a holiday. I don’t take it for granted and I appreciate how lucky we are!
With both the boys bathed and now tucked up in bed, I’m taking a few moments pause to plan some blog posts whilst I finish unloading their stuff. ‘Phase 2’ of our holiday will commence in early September when it will just be the four of us going away. I’m especially excited to have the opportunity for another break on the horizons before too long!
Anyway, lets delve into some edits I managed to get ready for tonight! More to follow!
