A few days away!

Our bank holiday this year was spent meandering through the stunning Mendip Hills as we took a couple of days holiday to celebrate my cousin's wedding. They hosted the reception at a beautiful venue called Coombe Lodge and if ever there was a property that made me fall in love at first sight, this was it!
Having had a fair bit of 'writers block' lately, I thought it would be a good way to ease myself back into this month's blog posts with a little roundup of our mini trip away- and plenty of photos to accompany!

In case you're new around here, I was born in Devon and I hold a very special place in my heart for the south-west of England. It's remarkably tranquil and, even now,  I still feel a sense of peace come over me whenever we hit the M5 and head south again. That's definitely testament to the power of 'home'!

Weddings are always such wonderful occasions and I love how they seem to bring the best out of everyone. Joining in the celebrations on Monday was extra special because it brought together not only my close family (the boys literally didn't leave their little cousins alone for a moment!) and my wider family and gave us the oppertunity to catch up with familiar faces we hadn't seen in such a long time.

The boys had a brilliant time too, all credit to Coombe Lodge making it so easy for us to occupy them. Who even thinks of having a room dedicated just to colouring in for children at a wedding?! It certainly did the trick to keep all the little ones contained AND entertained while we enjoyed the reception drinks, canapes and happy chit- chats before our meal.

I decided to base my outfit around a pair of heels that are exceptionally comfortable and I knew these would last me all day with ease. My dress is from H&M last year, my duster coat is from Miss Selfridge and my heels are by Marks and Spencers.

I dressed the boys in the same suits they wore to a wedding last year which were also from Marks and Spencers. They're really gorgeous and come up so well after being washed so I was really pleased they got to see another day out.

Our trip was short and sweet but perfect in every way. Visiting new places, seeing new landscapes but most importantly, being together as a family; these are some of my very favourite conditions for making memories!

What did you get up to on your bank holiday?
