Dreaming of kitchens!

As we are currently between moves and with a baby imminently on the way, I've really noticed my nesting instincts come into play recently. We've had quite a busy year one way or another and life has placed us back on the road as we move around with our work.
It's an exciting time but it's not without its own set of difficulties- normally at this point of pregnancy I would find myself scouring every inch of the home to 'touch up' on painting and decor and I have made a little tradition in the last two pregnancies of re- painting my kitchen dresser in the weeks leading up to a newborn's arrival.
This time around, things are very different! We are still moving about and with the baby due next month, I am itching to get myself into a diy project!

To try and satisfy that particular urge, I have been spending some moments here and there planning and dreaming about our 'forever home'- that's if we ever settle somewhere long enough to have one!

I think for me, the kitchen has always been the first place I have turned my attention to when looking at properties and thinking about an ideal design. I love open plan layouts and light, bright spaces which offer functional accommodation as well as gorgeous aesthetics.

I've also really noticed how my personal style has developed over the years from being heavily influenced by all things 'shabby chic' to coming nearer towards a modern country vibe. With little boys tearing around our feet I look for clear, calm spaces that are pared back and minimal. Not that this is always possible to achieve with the growth of family, laundry, pots and seemingly never ending stacks of paperwork!- But you get me, it's about balance and making the home a place that truly becomes a relaxing environment for everybody.

Pinterest has been helping me while away any spare minutes I've had and I've certainly found myself spoiled for visual inspiration there! I thought it might be fun to share some of my favourite images from the internet which have truly had me reaching for a notebook to quickly scribble an idea down!

Here are some beautiful examples...I've linked below to the locations of these images if you want to head over and 'pin' any yourselves!
